Celebrating One Year of my Blog!

I cannot believe it has already been a year since I started my blog, but what a year its been! In November of 2020 I found out I needed surgery. After going through so many years of being in the unknown, I was actually excited for the opportunity to get answers by having surgery. I also was nervous and scared. I remember thinking that there had to be others out there that had gone through something similar and knew how it felt. And so I created my blog – Honestly Endo. I went through many names, but I ultimately chose Honestly Endo because it resonated the most with me and what I wanted to do through my blog. I didn’t want to feel like I had to hide my endometriosis anymore. I wanted to be honest about what life is like with this condition.

It can still be difficult sometimes when blogging and writing about life with a chronic illness. The biggest struggle for me is always How much should I show? How much should I tell? I consider myself a pretty private person so sometimes opening up about my health and illness does not always come easy. Additionally, I am not always sure how others will receive the more difficult topics such as excessive bleeding, pelvic pain, and experiences using birth control. However, I always try to remind myself that if I help one person or get one message from someone that has gone through it then it is all worth it. THAT IS WHY I DO IT. I do it because I know there is someone out there who is going through something similar and I want them to know that they certainly do not have to go through it alone.

That brings me to the absolute best part of starting my blog – meeting all the incredible, strong women who live with endometriosis and fight this disease every day. I have connected with women here in Pittsburgh, all throughout the United States, and even women around the world including those from Australia and India. It fills my heart with joy. I love meeting you all, talking to you all, and answering any and all questions when it comes to endometriosis. This year on the blog has been amazing and i cannot wait to see what 2022 has in store!
